Building Capacity in Sustainable Finance
Luxembourg is home to a dynamic ecosystem of institutions actively engaged in delivering training on sustainable finance, underscoring the country’s strong commitment to responsible and forward-looking financial practices. These efforts span public initiatives, private sector programmes, and academic contributions, all designed to ensure that financial professionals are well-equipped to navigate evolving standards, regulations and practices in sustainable finance.
Notably, the University of Luxembourg plays a key role through its Master in Finance and Economics - Sustainable Finance Programme, which supports cutting-edge research and higher education in this critical field.
Mapping Education
To help navigate the growing landscape of sustainable finance education, the Luxembourg Sustainable Finance Initiative (LSFI) has developed a dedicated mapping tool. This user-friendly resource consolidates information on sustainable finance training available in Luxembourg and neighbouring countries, making it easier to identify suitable courses and address knowledge gaps.
With access to over 170 courses, the tool empowers users to enhance their skills in ESG topics and regulatory compliance, facilitating continued progress in a rapidly evolving field.
Sharing Expertise with the World
Emerging economies are increasingly seeking financial expertise to support human capital development and long-term growth. For the Luxembourg Government, sharing knowledge beyond its border is not only an effective form of development assistance, but also a means of fostering goodwill and international collaboration.
Over the last 25 years, the House of Training–ATTF has led this mission, providing financial training and technology transfer to over 40 partner countries. The agency delivers high-quality seminars, coaching, technical assistance, and consultancy services both in Luxembourg and abroad. Most sessions are conducted by seasoned professionals from Luxembourg’s financial centre, ensuring practical relevance. On average, around 100 sessions are held abroad and up to 20 in Luxembourg annually, many leading to internationally recognised certifications.
The Catapult: Green Fintech Programme, is a dynamic one-week bootcamp designed specifically for green fintech firms. Hosted on-site at the LHoFT Innovation Hub, the programme is sponsored by the Ministry of Finance and co-facilitated by the Luxembourg Sustainable Finance Initiative (LSFI). It is delivered in collaboration with key partners from Luxembourg’s sustainable finance ecosystem.
Structured around three core pillars—impact, scaling, and funding—the programme offers participants a rare opportunity to connect directly with leading investors, industry professionals, policymakers, and founders within the country’s green finance landscape.
The Luxembourg Green Exchange offers an immersive learning experience that goes far beyond theory. With a broad spectrum of courses—ranging from regular and tailor-made sessions to collaborative programmes with trusted partners—the Academy equips participants with practical, in-depth knowledge across all areas of sustainable finance.
